KDE 4 translation

I have finally started translating KDE. That was my wish for a long time. But now I have the time to do it. I want to put Slovenian translation team, into first 20 🙂 ( we’re 27th now). It’s quite easy to translate. First you download a file. Then you put it through SMART. Then you diff the file from SMART with the original file, and for the last part, you go through the file in text editor, to select one of multiple SMART translations and to remove, text added by SMART.

Installing Leadteak Winfast 2000 XP in Linux(Gentoo)

I decided that I should buy TV Tuner card. First I have done some googling, which ones are well supported under Linux. I found out that Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 is good supported and even has a hardware encoder. I decided I should buy it. But then I found out that in Slovenia it is impossible to get it. I googled for more informations about the card and found out, that it can be only used with PVR programs like Mythtv and Freevo and I would like to watch TV with normal programs like, tvtime, kdetv and Xawtv too. So then I googled for different card and found Leadteak Winfast 2000 XP, which can be bought in Slovenia.

I have bought it and now the interesting part starts. First howto install it. Physically was not a problem, and then start of a system. CD to kernel source, I have choosen the right modules, recompiled the kernel and loaded the modules. Then I have started TVtime, First I have to choose which system should Tvtime use. I knew only that Slovenia uses Pal, but then there war at least 4 PAL options. I have chosen one and searched for channels. None of the channels had good picture. I tried with other programs and it was the same. Googled a lot but found nothing. When it was 3 AM I went to bed. In the morning I have brought TV from the living room and connect it to the cable. The picture was equally bad. What a relief, so the TV card must be fine installed. I then brought the PC to Living room to connect it directly to the cable and there the picture was fine. I have found out that here in SLovenia we use PAL-I at least there the frequencies are the same as in the paper we got from the cable provider. But strangely on PAL-N the picture is sometimes better on the same channel. When we moved cable a little the picture was good in my room to, and even the sound is working. Now the only thing left to do is the remote control. Because now only number buttons and Enter works.

I have tried to load lirc module and the problem is it looks for driver bttv for the TV card, but my card uses driver cx88xx, because chips were changed. Maybe even remote will work after some fidling.

SuperTux translation

Today I have done svn up again for SuperTux and translate some strings, and with others changed the status from fuzzy to translated. Now the number of all strings is exactly 200. I have translated 198 (99%) with fuzzy strings included and 183 (91,50%) with fuzzy strings excluded, so not much strings are keeping me from having 100% strings translated to Slovenian.

Slovenian SuperTux Translation in SVN

My SuperTux translation is in SVN. Currently SuperTux is translated only 97% in slovenian, but I'll do my best to rise this number to 100% and today at 18:08 commit 3700 was done with this message:

Adding Slovenian translation. Thanks and credit go to Marko Burjek.

It was commited by groundwater and big thanks goes to him. If you want to test it you can do SVN checkout:

svn checkout svn:// and then

Then you can start it from current folder ./supertux, but first backup your settings in ~./.supertux, because SVN version has a little different config format. Please know that these is development version so bugs are quite normal.

Milestone 2 looks very promising and after I played SVN levels I think that this release will be great when it will be finished. The most annoying thing in Supertux Milestone 1 IMHO was that you couldn't go back in level. This is fixed in SVN. I don't know about stable versions.

Bad day

Today was a very bad day. It started quite normal. I went to bed at three o'clock AM, because I was finishing school webpage. I got up at 7:45 and turned on computer. Webpage worked as normal and everything was OK. Then it was time to me to go to school and I zipped everything in the folder "expandable-meni". Everything seemed ok. Then I closed Kate and logoff. Then I went to school. In the school I opened webpage from my home computer and it showed errors that php/functions was not found. WTF? I thought. Then I SSHed to home computer and cd-ed to expandable-meni where I did ls folder. Folder php didn't existed.

Hebrew error

While I was programming logout part of school website in PHP I got strange error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')', expecting T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM in /xxx/logout.php on line 3

After some Googling I found even more interesting thing: I did a search and found it used as the keyword for a french PHP manual entry, apparently "PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM" means "two colons" ( : : ) in Hebrew. Hmm

But the strangest thing of all is that I don't have any colons in my code:

setcookie("cookie","", time()-(COOKIETIME*60));
unset(USERNAME);//Here is line 3

So now it seems that It isn't enough to speak english if you want to program, you have to speak Hebrew too. With this strange errors who said that programming isn't fun? 🙂
